Interdisciplinary Workshop

22 - 26 August 2005, University Kiel, Germany


The scientific program will consist of tutorial lectures (accessible to graduate students), invited review talks and posters. Attendence will be limited to 70. Colleagues interested in participation, please contact any member of the program committee.

Deadlines:

  • May 1: 1-page abstract
  • June 1: Acceptance notice
  • July 1: Registration, 175 EUR, covers copy of proceedings, welcome buffet, conference dinner and excursion;
    reduced fee: 125 EUR for students and accompanying persons, does not include proceedings
  • August 22: Submission of manuscript (referral during workshop)
  • October 1: Final version

How to reach the Physikzentrum by Bus:

The Physikzentrum is located in the street Leibnizstrasse, perpendicular to the main campus road Olshausenstrasse. There are 3 busses running from Hauptbahnhof to the University (price is 1.90 Euro and can be paid to the driver). Exit Hauptbahnhof toward street Sophienblatt.

  • Line 82: Bus entrance is at terminal D1 (across the street Sophienblatt). Take bus in direction Botanischer Garten. Exit at stop Universitätsbibliothek. The Physikzentrum is to your left, 100m ahead.
  • Lines 22(or 32): Bus entrance is at terminal B1 (B3) at the same side as Hauptbahnhof. Exit bus at stop Leibnizstrasse which is behind you to the right. The Physikzentrum is about 400m ahead on your left.

Talks and Posters

The workshop will take place at the Physikzentrum, Leibnizstrasse 15. Talks will be at Kleiner Hörsaal, the posters in the hall infront of Kleiner Hörsaal and remain on display until Wednesday.

Invited/contributed talks are 40/25 minutes, including discussion. For the poster you can use an area of 1.25 m x 1.00 m (width x height).

Financial support:

We have obtained support of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, and also additional individual support for Eastern European participants is expected. Workshop participants with talks/posters may apply for support. Also, limited support for graduate students and PhD students will be available

Registration Information:

The registration will be
Sunday, August 21 from 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. and
Monday, August 22 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
at the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics (ITAP) in the office of Frau Schulz, room 247 (2nd floor).
To register, you will be asked to bring with you
  • your hotel bill
  • your train/air plane ticket
  • your complete bank information (account number, account holder, bank address etc.)
  • your proceedings manuscript (2 paper copies plus the electronic version per e-mail)
It will not be necessary to pay the conference fee in cash. Instead, and to minimize the overall cash flow, the difference of refund minus conference fee (which is expected to be positive) will be transferred to your bank account. Only Eastern European colleagues will receive cash.

Food

Lunch can be conveniently eaten in the MENSA, right across the Physikzentrum.
Dinner will be taken care of: Monday Evening there will be the workshop buffet (together with the poster session), Tuesday Evening will be the workshop dinner. Both are included in the conference fee.

Excursion

There will be an excursion to the historic town of Lübeck.
Sightseeing tours and visits to the nearby nice beach of Kiel will be available on demand.
