Study Physics in Kiel!
Kiel offers excellent study and research conditions
in enjoyable environment and personal atmosphere.
Main research focus areas are:
Experimental and applied physics:
Solid state physics, Surface physics, Plasma physics, Exteraterrestrical
physics
Theoretical Physics:
Statistical Physics, Nonlinear Dynamics,
Plasma theory, Solid state theory
Astrophysics: Stellar Astrophysics, Galactic Evolution
There are various smaller research groups, e.g.
biophysics, quantum field theory, elementary particles,
nonlinear dynamics, medical physics, and many others.
They offer full research conditions, but teaching
in the specialized areas usually is not offered
continuously.
Please ask the respective group leaders for advice
on your personal study plans and required

Currently, most lectures are given in german
(but upon agreement with the resp. docent
nearly all graduate courses can be given in english.)
Some research and group seminars are held in english
regularly.
In a few years, Bachelor and Master courses will
be given.
Up to then, the regular graduation is the diploma,
which usually is reached after 5 years of study
(including 1 year research-oriented diploma thesis).
